Tandems and Trainers needed
Looking for tandem bikes and trainer stands to help with Parkinson's treatment.
I am writing on behalf of the Parkinson's community in Davis, which is hoping to establish a Forced Exercise (tandem cycling) program at the Davis Athletic Club (see links below.)
I am currently discussing the project with the DAC Financial Manger, Jan Robinson. While she is enthusiastic about the project and amenable to providing space at the club pro bono and lead cyclists from their several spinning classes, we would need a sturdy tandem with a tachometer and a stationary stand or rollers. It would not need many gears and need not be new. Perhaps someone on your mailing list has a tandem in good condition that is no longer being used which could be donated to a worthy cause. Any help you can offer would be greatly appreciated
We have secured a donation of an old Stantons tandem in need of work, though if someone has a tandem in working condition taking up garage space, we'd like to hear from them.
For now, finding a stationary trainer is key to getting this project off the ground. Thank you for any help the Davis Bike Club and its membership can offer.
