Why I climb

John L. Leroux shares his thoughts on the rewards of climbing.

Climbing reminds me of how, when you work hard for something, you appreciate it ten times more.

When you're working so hard, moving those legs, your legs start to quiver but you look past that; you look at the scenery we are blest with: the beautiful mountains; the eagles soaring or the hawks moving effortlessly; the wild turkeys looking at you; the deer grazing (but be careful on that downhill they could run out in front of you); the sheep grazing.

You see all that on the way to the top of the mountain. While you go past, every switch back you can watch the scenery change in front of your eyes. It always seems different every time you ride. When you get to the top is your reward; you just marvel at what you have accomplished and the VIEW IS BREATH TAKING! Not to mention your fitness level and how your waist line disappears the harder you work, the more you ride.

Mountains are our FRIENDS! they make us stronger and build that Can Do attitude! To have a foggy day but you ride to the Beautiful Sunshine!

What is more gratifying than that.
