The program is looking for a few good captains to help the local Parkinson's community.

The Davis Athletic Club has graciously offered us a corner in their lobby to set up a tandem on a trainer, and we have begun to pair tandem Captains and Stokers for the program. You may have seen the front page article in the Davis Enterprise (Wednesday, December 28, 2011):

Two can be better than one

Our “Partners in Power” program is modeled after a study by the Cleveland Clinic. The Clinic’s research concluded that Parkinson’s people (riding as Stokers) can improve their motor skills up to 35% by following an 8-week tandem riding program. This was incredible and exciting news for all the Parkinson’s people here in Davis.

Our current, urgent need is for Captains to pair with the many Stokers who are signing up for the program. What would be the best way to contact DBC riders to see who might want to donate an hour a week (or two or three) to help us out? Could I send out a “call” via the DBC listserv? Could we include a brief mention in an upcoming newsletter? Could we speak about the program at an upcoming member meeting?

We have many enthusiastic Stokers signed up and don’t want to lose momentum in the program, so any ideas you have would be appreciated! (We also have begun making contacts at UC Davis and plan to contact the high school for potential Captains.)
