2012 March Fools Tour

— filed under:

Our traditional end-of-March tour goes from Davis counterclockwise around a loop through Napa and Sonoma counties to the coast, down to San Francisco, across to the East Bay, and back over the Benicia Bridge to Davis. Each day is about 60 miles, for a total of 300 miles over some new terrain for this tour. With the club rating system, some days are C-2 and some are C-3. Of course even more March Madness miles are possible on each of the days.

march-fools1We plan to head for Napa County over Cardiac, making the first day the most challenging. Using a new route across Napa and Sonoma Counties, our second overnight is in Bodega Bay. Our route down into Marin includes the Bovine Bakery and a ferry from Larkspur to the city, but a great option is to ride over the Golden Gate Bridge.march-fools-2

A new twist is exiting the city on the Oakland Ferry, and following bike routes over to the Danville side and up to Concord for the fourth night. Our 60-mile route crosses the new bike lane on Benicia Bridge, up through Fairfield and back to Davis.

We can accommodate a minimum of 10 and a maximum of 18 riders on this tour. Our cost of approximately $300 (budget not yet set) will include sag service, four overnight stops with double occupancy, and some breakfasts. Riders will be paying for dinners, other food, and ferries. Tour leaders are Bruce and Marilyn Dewey, deweyms@hotmail.com
