Where: Faetano Italy (link to Google Maps)

Race Details:  10:00 am start on September 25, 2011 outside the town of Faetano in the beautiful hills of the Emilia–Romagna region near San Marino and Rimini, Italy.

About the Course:  The course is 18k or approximately 11 miles and is an out and back somewhat hilly time trial race. The outbound leg has less than a 1 kilometer downhill in the beginning, and the rest is uphill with an average grade of 1.5%.  There are three small hills with grades of 2.0% to 3.4%.  The turnaround is flat, wide and safe. The return leg is all downhill except the last 400 meters which is up hill at a 2.0% grade.  The return leg typically has a “Davis” headwind.  The road is a bit bumpy and there are two spots with potholes that you will have to avoid; however, the road may be repaved prior to the TT.

There will be prizes for each age category including a category for women over 40.

Mark Adkison (Hors Categorie) will be there to take pictures and Joe Santos (Davis Wheelworks) and Rudy Tonti (Cicli Tonti) will provide bike mechanic support for those who need help.

Paperwork:  The California Time Trial is a sanctioned race so you will need an International License (UCI) which you can obtain from USA Cycling.  After you receive your International License you will need to apply for a Foreign Permission Letter (FPL) from USA Cycling.  You just need to call them and give your name, license number, the dates you will be in Italy and the name of the race.  We anticipate a nominal fee of 10 Euros for the race.

Accommodations:  We have reserved a block of rooms in a hotel near Cattolica on the beautiful Adriatic coast, approximately 10 miles from the TT course.

Travel:  The closest airport to Faetano is about an hour away in Bologna.  Faetano is 4 hours from Rome.  However, there is typically a great connection on United from Sacramento to Washington Dulles then onto Rome.

If you are interested, please reply to Karen Bond (kbond@cedaron.com) or Darin Salk (dsalk@cedaron.com) or call us at 530-758-7007 by July 30.  We can reserve a room for you and register you for the race.

We hope that you can join us at this fantastic event.
