In the spirit of the Thanksgiving holiday and in my role as DBC President, I took the opportunity to pardon a Tofurkey, which is now roaming free in the woods of Yolo County.  Be careful out there.

Before I step down as DBC President I will be exercising of one of the unique privileges of outgoing Presidents, which I don’t believe has ever been exercised before by an outgoing DBC President.  I am referring to the granting of Presidential Pardons for our members who have been convicted of serious cycling offenses.  Of course, they have not been convicted in a Court of Law, but they have been convicted many times in the Bicyclists Court of Public Opinion.  The pardons will be announced at the Holiday Party on December 14.  I will be reviewing the list of life-long offenders to select a few deserving of a pardon.  If you feel you should be given a pardon or if you want to suggest someone deserving of a pardon, please write the name on a $100 bill and mail it to “Presidential Pardons, 409 Heron Place, Davis, CA  95616”.  You can also include a brief statement of why the pardon is deserved, but this is not required.

This is the end of my third term as DBC President.  I have really enjoyed serving as the Club President and helping to keep the club in a healthy and vibrant condition.   But, I feel comfortable stepping down knowing that the next group of Directors is ready and able to lead the club through another successful year.  DBC is an amazing organization that continues to run smoothly and is financially sound and stable after 45 years, thanks to the dedication of many, many volunteers, a committed Board of Directors, and our varied offering of rides and events.

Wishing you all a healthy and safe year ahead,

Stu
