Reflections after joining Davis Club

Contributors: John Leroux

An essay on John's experience as a member of DBC.

To all readers that are not members, I was intimidated for years about the DAVIS BIKE CLUB! I thought it was a bunch of rabbits! ( fast riders)

When i joined I was pleasantly surprised. The people here are excellent. Always willing to help you with any questions. help you improve on your cycling and your next goal. They were you at one point. They all seem to remember that.

They have all different groups of cyclist. The Rabbits, the people trying to be rabbits, The people that just love to ride with a group. They have group rides that won't drop you on a ride that are called no drop rides. you get to learn the area and the pretty rides; before you know it you are riding those rides by yourself; you can even lead a ride.

They have an e-mail list serve that keeps you involved in the club. they even have bicycle tours to Nevada city to Colorado that are very affordable! Every club member i have met have been very nice! we have a legendary Sag wagon person (SANTA!) Lee Mitchell. He has a GREAT ATTITUDE! Plays music as he drives by you, gives you a kick in the but when you need it when you think your tired and before you know it you have your second wind and you FINISH THE RIDE. When you have a flat tire he is there, if you need a ride he is there.  SANTA  even has treats waiting for us at every rest stop.

All members are good people. Deb Ford, a ride leader, got me off my couch with a climbing clinic She always makes sure from the person up front to the person in the back that we are always OK and having a good time!  now I'm doing brevet's who would have thought! so if you are looking to Join a group come on board! We would be glad to have you! A PROUD DAVIS BIKE CLUB MEMBER!  John Leroux
