The Davis Bike Club completed a successful 2013 year thanks to the hard work of our Board of Directors, Tour Leaders, Brevets, Gold Rush Randonnee, and successful Double Century and Foxy Fall Ride events.  These events could not be run without the many, many volunteers and leaders who put in so many hours over the course of the year.

We are, at the core, a cycling club made up of people who like to ride bikes.  To that end, we had many bike rides available; daily morning rides,  fun tours, snack rides, training rides, and workers’ rides.  In addition we held special events such as the ever popular Davis Double Century, the Foxy Fall ride, the Brevet series and the Gold Rush Randonnee.  These are events that help to publicize our Club’s name and
reputation.  They require many volunteers and serve over 2,000 riders.

Another piece of our DBC puzzle is the social aspect.  We address this by holding a monthly membership meeting, encouraging and enjoying March Madness riding, holding worker’s rides after a big event, and inviting the membership to an annual Holiday Party.

The Club is active in our community through donations to many local charities such as:

  •  American Red Cross of Yolo County
  •  Yolo Eyes for Others
  •  Winters High School (for bike helmets)
  •  City of Davis (for Street Smarts program)
  •  West Plainfield Volunteer Fire Department
  •  Woodland Bike Campaign (with Alpinsanity funds)
  •  Yolo Food Bank (with Alpinsanity funds)
  •  Camp Kasem
  •  The Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence Center
  •  Davis Community Meals
  •  Habitat for Humanity
  •  Elderly Nutrition Program (meals on wheels)
  •  Putah Creek Council
  •  Short Term Emergency Aid Committee (STEAC)
  •  Tuleyome
  •  Yolo hospice
  •  Yolo Land Trust

The Club also contributes to the sport of bicycling and its safety through our advocacy donations.  In addition we partner with the United State Bicycling Hall of Fame to further the cycling and support a worthy biking gem in our community.

We are major sponsors of the Davis Race Team and the up and coming Davis Junior’s Race Team.  Many more volunteer hours and dedication are put in to make the racing teams successful.

Yes, 2013 has been a great year for the Davis Bike Club.  We are well positioned to have another wonderful time in 2014.  We will again be asking for your support and participation in the Club.  Let the board know what you think and how you can help!
