Thanks DC helpers!!!

There is no other way to say it, but THANK YOU DBC members for making the 2012 DC a fantastic event!!!!

The weather was perfect, the riders were perfect and the volunteers were more than perfect!

I want to acknowledge, first, the volunteers who the riders never see:  the sweep truck drivers, the barricade crew, and the clean up crew!  John Stegall and Charley Wilson have for several years driven the truck that sweeps the course, gathering gear and garbage from rest stops as they close down, and picking up barricades as the course closes down.  This usually takes 12 to 14 hours!  Kevin Mann and his crew set up those barricades on Friday night before the DC from the Start to Rest Stop 1, and, then on Saturday they rearrange the barricades from Rest Stop 8 to the Finish. Yes, the official clean up crew directed by Barry Bolden and Dave Joshel do want nobody really wants to do and that is clear out all the gear from the Finish, wash igloos, throw out bags of garbage removed from the sweep truck, and return gear to the appropriate places.  AND, everyone smiles!!!!

The DC Committee is a "well oiled machine"!  We have been doing this for so many years that a lot of meetings were not necessary...we geared up and DID IT!  I want to thank the following for all their time and expert assistance: Barbara Anderson, Stu Bresnick, Dan Shadoan, Marla Stuart, Dave Nishikawa, Nancy and Jeff Hall, Jean and Alan Jackman, Jim Sharp, Jack Berger, Adam Bridge, Dan Barcellos, John Hess, Craig Dinger, and Barry Bolden.

The rest stop captains, each adding their own touch, were excellent in taking care of the riders, feeding and encouraging each one to keep on going!  The captains were Mike and Suzanne Crago Schneider, John Hess, Craig Dinger, Scott Alumbaugh, Nathan Trueblood, Elinor Olsen, Amy Rafferty, Jim Holverstott, and Amy Thompson.

Additional thanks to Christian from Brubar for providing Brubars!  Lt. Glenn Glasgow from DPD was so helpful in advising us with the challenging parking problem at the Vets' Memorial.

We had great mechanical support, first aid support, and sag support.

We ALL DID IT!

Next year, same place, the date to circle is May 18, 2013!!!!  THANK YOU DBC!
