Wrapping Up Another Year

We are nearing the end of another year of cycling events. The Touring calendar was completed in September with the Gold Lakes, Belgium, and Bakery Tours. All were successful and enjoyable. Last month our event ride calendar concluded for 2010 with the Foxy’s Fall Century on October 16th. Many thanks to the event directors, Michael Borgg and Steve Macaulay, for putting together a very successful ride for over 1300 happy riders.

Thanking DBC Volunteers

This is a good time to thank all of those who make DBC events possible – Volunteers! We owe a big thanks to all those who volunteer throughout the year to make it all possible. This is a club and not a business. We rely on hundreds of volunteers who put in thousands of hours each year to make DBC the great club that it is. Many thanks to all of you!

AMGEN Update

As you probably have read, the AMGEN Tour of California will not go through Davis in 2011. The City of Davis hopes that in future years we will once again be on the tour circuit. Meanwhile, for 2011the City is hoping to have a bicycle event day on May 1 to kick off bike month, likely starting and returning to Central Park. DBC expects to be working with the City to plan and carry out the event.

Fall Clothing Order

The fall clothing order has been placed and the clothing is expected to be delivered in early December. Thanks to Scott Alumbaugh for his design work and to Darrell Dickey for handling the clothing distribution. The next opportunity to order clothing will be in the early spring. The club has a few extra men’s jerseys in size medium and large. If you would like one of these please contact me at: president@davisbikeclub.org. The price is $55.

Nominating Committee

A nominating committee has been formed (Dan Barcellos, Barry Bolden, and Alan Hill) to generate a slate of nominee Directors for 2011. The slate will be announced in the December newsletter and voting will take place at the annual membership meeting/holiday party on December 14.

Ride Safely,

Stu
